Arthur George Tomlin founded Wykin Shires in 1915 and Ann Tomlin, Granddaughter, took over the family business in 1986.


Since 1986 Ann has numerous prizes ploughing all over the British isles including England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, firstly with her Clydesdales Bonnie and Clyde as Ann Jones and now with her four Shires Major, Rupert, Ben and Solomon as Ann Tomlin. Ann has also appeared on the BBC TV programme Countryfile in 2004 as an expert working horses on the land.


Ann’s success with horses has lead to her doing Weddings, Special Occasions, Funerals and tours to the equally high standards of her ploughing.


Her horses are highly trained in all disciplines including land work, such as ploughing and logging, and road work in heavy traffic, such as carriage driving and riding.


As a junior show jumper Ann  competed at County Level Qualifying for Junior Championships including Hickstead With her JA (Junior Grade A) pony Just Brutus and winning Junior Opens by being unbeatable against the clock.
